Otto, you probably know it by now, I‘m a HUGE fan of BMW‘s, basically since I was born in 1978, and since 2004 I only do own BMW‘s.
BUT: I, through my job, know and also can admit that other manufacturers also produce great cars. 👍
This Audi Sport Quattro is what I think of when I think of Audi. And you know what, even back in the 80s, these cars were extremely rare. I only did see two in person and that was when I was with my parents on the German island „Sylt“, cause this place is probably the only place where you would find two of these rare cars… 🥴😉
So nice that Nils did let you drive this car, it must have been a „once in a lifetime“ experience for you AND Mani 😉

The flow, you discribed it perfectly. The understeer is gone now, there is just endless wheel spin, tons of grip, speed and flow into corner after another. Its something only torsen quattro makes us feel.
I have 2 quattros 1 haldex 1 torsen. Haldex is fun, torsen is high speed flow, yet in the moment everythings feel so slow.

The abs switch is for driving on dirt. Locking up the wheels on dirt makes you stop faster cause the tires bury into the dirt.

Darum hat der Walter mit links gebremst. Heute im Rallysport Gang und Gebe, früher Revolutionär. Führte einfach zu dem simplen Vorteil, schneller zwischen Gas und Bremse wechseln zu können. Das radiert das Untersteuern aus.

Kleiner fun-fact. Als der Quattro erstmals entwickelt wurde und im Rallysport bei Audi seinen Einsatz finden sollte, war Walter nicht direkt begeistert. Um das zu verstehen, muss man durch seine Augen schauen. Zum damaligen Zeitpunkt, war er ausschließlich heckangetriebene Fahrzeuge im Motorsport gefahren (was logisch ist, da es keine Allradfahrzeuge gab).
Um sich mit dem Auto anzufreunden, hat Walter also Audi Sport angerufen und sich einen Quattro nach Haus bestellt. Mit dem besagten, hat er in seiner Umgebung dann Wälder und Feldwege unsicher gemacht und schließlich das left-foot-breaking, für sich als Lösung seiner Unzufriedenheit gefunden.
