Like gears, we removed a load of stuff and made it more expensive. Win

Love the idea. I started riding before Rockshox so full sus bikes have never been my thing. Getting older sucks so having something like this to take the edge off seems very appealing.

I would buy it if I could afford it . Trek is my favorite I rode a friend's and it was awesome. I live ing South africa and there's a lot of trails I'm 14 and I have a 24 inch avalanche hard tail. This bike looks crazy fun. All I want is a bike from trek that's a dream

Cool idea. Seems like an update to what Cannondale did back in the early 2000's with the Scalpel. However the Scalpel used flexible chain stays instead of the seat stays. Shock was mounted behind the seatpost to maintain frame integrity. Not necessarily better - just interesting.

The price is a downer, the NX is 7K Cad, i would never paid that much just to ride on NX. But great looking machine, i would wait and try the bike at a trek bike demo.

I miss the good old days when you could climb hills, race down, jump big stuff, often crash AND keep on going..for years... for $200

Expensive? Yes.
Durable? Time will tell, but all the materials engineers in the comments section say, “no”.
But... it’s a race bike. It’s a race bike. It’s a race bike. It’s a bike meant for racing. Let that sink in.

And there’s still space in the frame for a water bottle!

It will be too damn expensive, and that's coming from a guy who owns a S-Works Venge. Also, the closest rivals come with much better components for the same price (Spark, Epic, Anthem).

I don't trust the thiny tubes of rear triangle that bend all the time

That entire rear assembly looks fragile to me...

You could make a nice DJ/slope style with this...

Yeah, I saw that Jolanda Neff was riding the bike with the suspension covered, to hide the prototype. How much is going to cost, $25, 000???

Super light? 1900 grams is more than a 100mm scott or nocro... I guess if there's no weight savings what is the point?

The flexing seat stays is also something that was on GTs carbon gravel bike. The GT used their triple triangle design but it is not joined were it crosses the seat tube allowing it to flex. That may have been a good idea on their gravel bike but even on the Aluminum hard tail Mtbs they used the floating stays. GT isn't the same as they used to be since their "triple triangle" design is used to allow frame flex rather then increased stiffness. The older GTs required more welding than other frames. This was due to having an extended top tube that was pierced by the seat tube. The open end of the top tube then had to be capped off. Then their was extra welding were the seat stays cross the seat tube. The newer GTs have done away with these extra steps possibly to reduce labor cost. I do think that the floating seat stay design would work even better on a titanium frame. Lightspeed used to produce rear suspension that had no pivots at all because titanium is very springy, flexible and returns to form.

Shits genius, the frame is the spring and the Vibration damper is the shock. Beautiful. Well done Trek. I take back some of what I say about you.
