Over in Boston, Dr. Larry Benowitz with Boston Children's Hospital has dedicated his professional life to figuring out how to regenerate connections in the optic nerve. He talked with Adam Chodak about his own research and its progress along with other avenues being explored in order to restore eyesight.

They are getting great results in Germany with Electronic Eye Stimulation. The results are amazing but I don't hear anything about it in US. More money in studying a problem than fixing the problem.

In the meantime, we glaucoma patients could use a safe eye pressure measurement tool for use at home.

I wish they would hurry up and come out with something. I have faith in God in the doctors. I have been blind since I was 22 years old and I’ve heard about this research for the last four years and nothing yet it’s so unfair when you get miss diagnosed from a doctor and then it’s too late. You’re blind and left with several children to take care of.
