I was part of our family auto parts business when all the tanks were being dug up and changed out. Lots of leaks from old underground tanks resulted in lots of soil contamination. The remediation that the EPA deemed necessary put some of our customers out of business. Some great people that we had known for decades.

I don't get the mileage on discount gas that I get from the name brand fuel. Also, some of the cheap gas stations use a manganese based additive that is thought to be harmful to the catalytic converter. If you're wondering whether your gas has it, manganese will show up on an oil sample.😮

Scotty, you were in Houston for years, there are 8 Major Refineries it Pasadena & Texas City, they All put their gasoline in one 48" pipeline (Colonial Pipeline) and ship it North. Yes it is ALL the same till it gets to the distribution point & loaded on the truck.

I only buy Top Tier gasoline. That gasoline has the proper quantities of detergents. The cheap fuels are just that; the price is lower because the additive packages are reduced. You get what you pay.

All gas stations in the U.S. built before 2008 were allowed to have single wall tanks and most of those were single wall steel tanks. There are lots of old steel underground gas tanks in the U.S.

I only get gas at Wawa. The only place I've found that sells ethanol free gas. Better for my car, mower and generator. And it stores better.

Just had an issue with Circle K gas. My mechanic found 90%water in the gas. In our area, most people avoid Circle K and Holiday because of this.

Cheap gas has no additives for friction reduction, corrosion inhibitors and detergents. Good luck.🎉

That's interesting. I suspected as much, having heard things like this in the past. I live in the Detroit area, and a little research revealed that while gasoline for various brand stations may be trucked or railed in to distributors, the big Marathon refinery south of downtown is the only one in Michigan.
