i personally dont think thats needed and is very optional. having something like a simple LED strip going around at least a good portion of the room rather than focus it bouncing off the wall could not only strain ur eyes for being so close and bouncing off the walls but be very distracting and doesnt show off the vibrant colors around the whole room. its good for focusing the attention toward the pc but its not good at illuminating the room in darkness.

for me and a barbones setup, everything ive paid for costs £700.00 total which i can actually lower by not buying some items i dont always need. but in my gaming room, i use LED lights going around the top part of my wall. it doesnt reach around my room that well so i had to cheat it a bit and have part of it hanging above the door when u come in kinda drooping down. the way its setup tho doesnt make it much of a eyesore because its focused in the main sections of my room where i play and look and it illuminates the whole room anyway so its easy to forget or not notice it doesnt go all around the room.
