Dead trees create potential failure, & the risk is extremely high! These three dead ash trees were leaning hard, over a local manor. I decided to offer my help, and eliminate the potential dangers. Because, I wasn't really doing anything this day.....

Perhaps we should mention the importance of the person making the back cut and the person applying the pull force to work together. Not to over pull before you can cut enough wood or not to cut too fast before the neccessary pull force has even been applied. The maasdam is a beautiful device for this because the pull is generated one click at a time so it's easier for the person making the back cut to be in total control but stick your drunk uncle Ronnie with a heavy boot in an old F-150 tied to the pull rope and look out shits coming down whether you made a back cut or not 🤠

Well said Mike! Thats one of the most important things I think, and where people get into trouble is not having a direct/in line pull. You can cheat a little with healthy live trees but even then will result in an off target landing unless they compensate for it in the direction of the face cut and manipulate the hinge some too. Dead ash can't be trusted but I still every now and again get some that surprise you with how much holding wood they retained, but I still initially treat em as if its not gonna hinge. Good idea with this vid brother, it should help a lot of folks out, and maybe even sway them against attempting some shenanigans if they have never done tree work.

Nicely done. How do you go about pricing dead trees as opposed to live? I'm still horrible at bidding jobs.

I've been bidding alot of ash trees that are dead or dying because of the bug. Good advice stay safe out there 👍

What kind of ash trees were they? I only really see green ash in my area (Alberta to British Columbia Canada) and they seem good and strong to climb and fell when dead.
