Honestly, I don't want to go to more private islands. I want to go to destinations. All these tariffs, taxes and such don't impact corporations or businesses not one bit! It always affects the regular folks.

Any and all taxes and tariffs are paid by the end user... Should cruise lines pay more? Maybe, but remember 100% of those taxes will be paid by you and me when we book a cruise.

Price matters to us. The new, big ships aren't worth the cost to us. Any new taxes are paid by the consumer, thereby raising the, already too high, cost. Ugh

For people surmising what the cost impact could be bringing existing ships under US tax laws... compare 7 nights on NCL's Pride of America in Hawaii, the only major US-flagged ocean cruise ship to 7 nights on a comparable Royal or Carnival ship, the fare will be roughly double for the same cabin.

They'd have to completely scrap and re-do the PVSA of 1886 to bring all the foreign-flagged, foreign-built ships under the US flag. Part of that law requires the ship to have been built in the USA in the first place, and it's the reason foreign-flagged cruise ships must make at least one foreign port stop.

Increase the tax and cruise passengers will pay for it just like we all pay for the tariffs on goods. Along with the recent layoff of thousands of workers at Southwest Airlines, if we now get tax increases handed down to us, man I don’t know. I love travel as much anyone but I’m not supporting this mess. I may cut back my cruises and travel now for real. It’s just too much crazy going on out here.

Regarding the private islands, I think it would be a great idea for cruiselines with those monstrous ships to cruise only to private islands. Families who want all those activities would have them onboard and onshore, and those of us who don't need all that can travel on smaller ships to ports for the cultural experiences and not have the ports overcrowded with people.

cruise fares sky rocketed last year, can you imagine how expensive it would get if they have to pay taxes. You know they will just pass that on to the consumer.

If the US starts taxing the cruise industry, you will see embarkation ports start to pop up in Mexico. Once that starts, you will see Florida start to die off. Mexico would love to have that business.
