According to The Globe and Mail Article Titled "China-Canada relations: A time to nurture co-operation" : "Economic cooperation and trade is the driving force of China-Canada relations. Currently, China-Canada trade only accounts for 1.4% of China’s total foreign trade and 8.1% of that of Canada. Canadian investment in China takes up less than 1% of all foreign investment in China, and Chinese investment in Canada is a mere 2.7% of total foreign investment in Canada. This spells out a tremendous potential to develop our trade and economic cooperation." So, yes, that is definitely a great move to boost the economies given this huge economic downturn happening especially in Canada. The unemployment rate in Alberta has reached near 10%, highest in over 20 years, which is really scary. We need to explore more methods to recover the situation and help more people go back to work. Good job!

Keystone pipeline is blocked. oil price is way down. manufature sector is long gone.
It is actually a little too late for Canada to embrace Chinese market. China is not in a good mood to buy because of their own downturn.

I am jusy wondering why people in Alberta didn't build their own petro-chemical plants when oil industry was booming. A leader with vision is so important. In many ways our leader has something to learn from Chinese in planning long term ecnomic development.

Nice! Justin sometimes seems pretty ignorant on international issues, but he's definitely moving in the right direction here. A free trade agreement with China would be great for both China and Canada.
