Tennis Serve Practice Ep.1

This video is me working on my serves. I’m trying to hit the target, but I am mainly focusing on the power and consistency of my serve 。。。I will record my serve practice at least once a month to see my tennis serve progress.

Wow, I’m very impressed with your serve motion. It looks really good!

Tip 1: don’t serve so hard too much in practice. You’ll hurt yourself in the long run. It’s more important to practice spot accuracy. Wait till you’re a pro to practice power. Kids your age lack vision to adapt against variety. Not just on serve but during rallying too. If you’re constantly hitting top spin deep top spin deep the opponent easily gains rhythm. But hit top spin deep, shallow slice, drop, lob, approach and volley, and you will dominate.

Tip 2: get a person or a dummy to stand where a person would be returning. Having that object there makes serving more realistic and that makes it harder. It feels different to serve to a person vs an open court.

Tip 3: more like a drill, (at normal first serve lace) * deeply* serve 5 flat serves to the right, 5 slices to the right, 5 kicks to the right. Then 5 of each to the left. Then one right one left 5 times. *repeat shallowly* depth of serve is not often taught but very effective to help win points. Then practice everything again with soft serves (second serve pace)
