First ever trackday...in a GR Yaris, aged 17!!!

The track day was my first ever, having turned 17 just a few months ago, and I was lucky enough for it to be in the prestigious GR Yaris! Here you will see my thoughts on the GR Yaris on both the road and the track.

The car felt overall amazing and I was the fastest one out there on road tyres. Being a racing driver however, I'm always looking to find a bit more so the video gives my feedback on the car and how setup can be improved. The car is fully standard and unmodified in the video but this may change in the future as you will hear. I am keen to explore all the products out there and give my honest opinions and feedback on them.

My fastest lap of my first ever track day was a 58.44 which I am pleased with considering the road tyres and very cold temperatures on the day. There is still more time to be found round the Brands Hatch Indy circuit though so I hope to go back and extract those last few tenths.

The video was filmed using the incredible GoPro Max 360 camera mounted via suction cup and tether to the left side of the windscreen.

Hope you enjoy!

Interesting to watch and amazing at 17 years that you were driving such a car. Back in 1980 i had the fortune to start Special Saloon racing with a Sunbeam Stiletto which had been built by a talented Rob Mason. I purchased it from David Enderby, who was most successful with it.
We all met at Brands Hatch for my first drive in early 1980 after an enjoyable preparation , and also first experience of driving a race prepared car.
It was some top side of 100 bhp from a 998cc engine..Slick tyres on a nice dry day..
I was chuffed to see you did the same best time as me on that day..
That time also was the usual for Roger Nathan`s Costin-Nathan GT way back in 1966 at Brands, abielt not on the delightful M&H slicks that i was using.
Sadly my Special Saloon racing ended in November 1980 having not even finishing a race ..Pity full experience.
I did have a better time Hillclimbing & Sprinting with another Imp called HGH later on in the 1990`s. I stopped doing that in 2000 plus to enable my 10 year old Son to compete in MSA UK karting up tp 18 years and we won many trophies together.
My first car was an Imp of sorts in 1969 and as time went by i started Llewellyn Imp Motorsport to which not long ago i retired from ..Now 70 + years i am following your CTCRC antics on YouTube..
Hoping to get back into motorsport with my family owned from new Cortina Mk 1 in Hillclimb & Sprints in the next couple of years..

I do have a Facebook site called "Llewellyn Imp Motorsport" that you might find interesting and helpful with your Imp career.

Best review on the GR Yaris I've seen as it's honest, very in depth and knowledgeable driver. Can we see some more technical videos?
And other cars?

Very fluid but fast driving, if it looks unspectacular, the lap times are often very good.

That was awesome!! I've often thought about doing a track day - I really wanted to do it in my (now long gone) Alfa - but I've never had the confidence.

Oh..Meant to ask when you will be posting your news over the first round of pre 66 at Silverstone 25/26th March..Managed to see both races on Sunday viewing the stream on YouTube but none the wiser why you had to retire.
