It will be my 5th time this summer staying at this resort. And I love it!! It is huge! You don't have to leave. There is soo much to do! The resort is about a mile long. The first time I stayed here was 2017 at the colonial. 2 years later in the palace. 2022 and 2023 we stayed in the riveria adults only section. This year we will be staying at the palace. The riviera adults only is obviously my favorite! Even if your an adult you can't be in the pools of the riviera. They will kick you out even if your staying at the palace. The pool is close to the beach and our room was right above the lobby and the buffet right below the lobby so everything was close by. However it does lack the jungle in the pool and beach area. The other levels are surrounded by the beautiful jungle. If you like to explore the resort, the colonial is right in the middle of every thing and will be closer to everything so that will be your best bet. The resort is about an hour from the airport when there isn't a lot of traffic. You have a cenote on the other side of the highway in front of the resort. Also playa del Carmen is about 15 minutes away and xel ha about 15 to 20 minutes. Xel ha is worth going! It's beautiful!

We stayed here almost two years ago, and really loved it. The biggest advantage was that there were sea turtles in the ocean, right behind the Palace! We snorkeled with them every day. On the down side, our room key was stolen one day, and it was a big hassle getting it replaced. Also, there is no snack bar by the big pool. You have to walk quite a long way, to get to the outdoor covered buffet. But hey, at least you get some exercise. All-in-all we loved it, and look forward to returning here in the next few months.

Nice video for our favorite resort. Been there 9 times after trying out many other areas. Great fit for a beach loving family with awesome snorkeling at the Palace. Agree with the 4.5 out of 5 rating, but not because of the room service. We prefer to be socializing rather than in the room, but more nightlife variety would make it a 5 out of 5 for us. Some live contemporary music later in the evening would be a great add and make it absolutely perfect for us. Until then it is still a hard resort for others to measure up to for us. Going back for visit #10 in a few months.

We are here right now. Second time here. Stayed at the adult only back in 2020 and with the family now in 2025 at the more family oriented Maya Tropical. Plenty of places to eat but Buffets are not great except breakfast which was quite good. Beaches are nice as well. Pools are plentiful. All inclusive drinks are very very watered down if you get the smoothie drinks. They will add more “zip” if you ask but still may take a gallon or 3 of the smoothies to catch that beach buzz! Overall a great place to take active teens like we are doing now. Lot to do including swimming, water or court basketball, bowling, ocean activities and even some shopping for mom. Reasonably priced as well and we did get the “premium” packages.

Smokers makes it a bad day at the pool for non smokers. Me and my wife just got back from a week stay. Everything else was perfect. Buffet food is mediocre but it’s a buffet so don’t expect much. Talk to guests as there is a lot that has been there prior and can give you tips on what’s best to order

What you don't mention, is how unbelievable of a deal you can get for what you pay at this resort. 15 trips south, and this hotel completely destroys anything else we've visited for the same money. Absolutely gorgeous resort. Just booked the Palace for $1350 USD/$1799 CDN including flights from Canada and transportation to the hotel.

We just came back from 2 weeks and it was great, no big complaints. We did the chair dash every day to get a spot at the pool, usually about 6:30 am or you won’t get a spot with shade. We went to the theatre a few times but it was way too loud, the band should learn to play the same song at the same time, the shows were good but the band was terrible!

We loved everything about this resort except for the food. The food was actually pretty gross. However, it's a $33 taxi ride to Playa Del Carmen. We went there a handful of times throughout the trip for dinner which was a nice alternative. Everything else said in this video I agree with

I've read that some people have a hard time finding loungers. Are there enough loungers? I experienced this at the coba next door and even fought with people over loungers.

You should redo this video. The Barcelo Maya Grand Resort comprises six resorts. We’ve been there seven times, so I know what I’m talking about. You’re mixing videos from not just the Palace, but others as well.
