Based on my experience for Android we do not need to pass desCap:"Uiautomator2", its optional. logically we do not have a different intermediate like iOS, so its not mandatory to use.

Thanks Naveen for detailed explanation of Appium architecture. As you right said most of blogs on internet are having old architecture. Over the year Appium have expanded to support multiple devices which many are not using. Explanation for supporting mac apps, windows app are very helpful. So far I have used Appium to automate iOS and android app but looking forward to try mac and windows apps. Thanks for sharing!

Question: At 18.28 min you say that UI Automator 1 is used for old version of Android devices. What
version is considered as old? (like you said ios < 9.3 is old version)
