California's Homeless Crisis: Seniors in Sacramento are increasingly becoming homeless. Could the rise be a symptom of a larger cultural problem?

A 94 year old woman should never ever be homeless. Her daughter should be appalled. She is a disgrace.

No senior should be homeless. We should have senior apartments and assisted living communities that all American seniors can afford. This is a national disgrace.

The daughter who sold her mom's house out from under her should be charged with elder abuse.

She have five kids but non of them helping her? Wow I lost faith in having kids. I would never let this happen to my dad. My dad right now is living with us and it will stay that way until he pass away.

5 kids and she can’t be on a mattress in the living room? Sickening. How do people live with themselves? I had an old dog that had bad arthritis and I couldn’t afford to eat and buy his meds so each day I had one peanut butter sandwich and I bought his pain meds. And this is a human being with family. I have no words.

I have to say that the daughter who sold her mothers home and evicted her, that was not right at all. That is something I could never do.

I come from an Asian culture and I was shocked to see how the elderly are treated. It is really sad.

One mother can take care of 5 children but 5 children can’t take care of one mother.

For the lady that has 5 kids, I can't believe one of them couldnt have picked her up from the hospital and at least found her a hotel if they don't want her living with them. Seems outrageous. I don't have the best relationship with mine but I would bring her home anyway. I could not have her out on the street.

The treatment of seniors in this country is criminal. Hospitals have shoved me out the door before still ill, in one case with a blood count of eight (fourteen is normal). Companies make up reasons to eliminate older employees which is illegal. The real eye opener is the same abusers complain the loudest when they wind up on the receiving end of the same types of elderly abuse they dished out.

My momma died wen i was real young but if i had my momma I'd never let her be homeless. She borned me. I would look after her💔💗 these stories are so heartbreaking. Godbless these beautiful souls💛❤

Why do the elders feel that they are not part of their children’s family?In India even the poorest of poor don’t abandon their elderly parents.They are all in it through thick or thin.
Strong Family ties and mutual interdependency is what is needed in US.

I'm glad and grateful that my oldest brother provided a nice home for my Mom. He literally bought a house for her to live in.
Later my sister moved in the same house to help look after Mom.

This is shameful! We have failed our elders. Expecting their children to care for them is preposterous - too many children grow cruel and indifferent. This woman had her home sold out from under her by her daughter. Some children are amazingly selfish and cruel to their parents.
