Madame Curie had two daughters: Irene and Eve. Eve had the incredibly rare distinction of being the only person in her family not to receive a Nobel Prize. Her mother received two (chemistry and physics), her father got one (in physics), her sister got one (in chemistry), her brother-in-law got one (in chemistry) and her husband got one (for peace).

Looking more Madam Curie than Madam Curie herself

How kind of Marie Curie to show her PhD thesis on her Youtube channel.

With that Curie dress, you should definitely do a collab with Karolina Żebrowska 😝

She taught herself as a teenager mathematics and upon graduation scored the highest test score in math from Sorbonne and second in the science test

I wish I had a teacher who had your voice and your style of explaining things

It's wild to think a lot of her stuff is still as radioactive as it is, not to mention that when she passed (RIP) her coffin was lined with lead! What an inspirational woman and scientist. This video was a really interesting insight into her work and ideas, thanks

This is so cool. I’m a little obsessed with Marie Curie at the moment and I would never have thought to look for a copy of her original thesis. Thank you for sharing this.

I thoroughly enjoyed this! I have read Marie Curie’s biography and wish I had accomplished at least half as much as she did. There‘s a recent film about her starring Rosamund Pike, as well as an older one.

Toby, I watched this yesterday and came back to watch it again today. I just wanted to say thank you so much for doing content like this. Curie has always been a huge role model of mine and to see you explain her PhD (also that of Einstein and others) is like a present that you give the world every time you post. I would love to have the time and expertise to look through high impact theses and important scientists' academic history, but it is just not something that I can do. Please please please continue with this :D

My favorite ASMR artist talking about my favorite scientist! What more?
Just kidding, you both are my favorite scientists!

It's always nice to have quality videos like this to just sit and relax while you listen

Do you know why Marie and Pierre was so successful together?

Because the chemistry between them was great!!

4:44 imagine how big of a feat to even imagining this experiment... the creativity and knowledge that went into this is mind blowing

If somebody would have told me some years ago that I’m going sitting here in my free time watching math, I would probably call him crazy.

My partner is a physical chemist by training, and a materials scientist by vocation. Thank you for this tour of Marie Curie's thesis. I already have great respect for my partners' work, but I'm really glad she works with semiconductors instead of heavy metals!
