For everyone saying blue whale and leedsicthys are larger. The blue whale is a mammal and leedsicthys is a fish. They clearly said in the video this was the largest REPTILE

That thing sure was the living embodiment of thalassophobia and megalophobia. Beautiful yet deadly indeed!

Its all fun and games until one day in a futuristic submarine you hear this:
"Detecting multiple leviathan class lifeforms in the region, are you certain whatever you are doing is worth it?"

imagine swimming peacefully in the triassic ocean when all of a sudden a shonisaurus comes barreling towards you at Mach 10 while freebird blares in the backround

That first image is amazing, most art tries to make ichthyosaurs look like dolphins, majestic and "friendly" (in the public's perception at least), when they were actually reptiles and probably acted like them (or maybe like sharks).

When he said "nice" after he said the 69 feet part, I literally said "Nice" along with him

The Triassic period is way underrated, not enough talk about life during the Triassic, but that's the time period that gave us some of the weirdest and coolest creatures in the fossil record...

"So basically anything that was smaller than them"
So they eat everything

Crazy that a blue whale is still over 1½ times it's size.

Shonisaurus is literally a Triassic version of the blue whale in a sense

This guy is a passion project in Fossil Fighters. He grows at a horribly slow rate, but if you give him that good TLC, he goes from funny dolphin to Shonisaurus, Destroyer of Worlds.

Fun fact; Ichthyosaur fossils can often be found high in the mountains of Nevada. It's the state fossil. There's a concentration of about 40 of them anywhere from 2' to 50'-60' in the ground at the fossil house in Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park in Nevada. 130 year old ghost town and mine to explore nearby too.

‘That we know of….’ As a former researcher, that phrase is beautifully accurate…. And not nearly used enough
Thank you!
