When will I ever use Calculus in real life? Well, here is an example. Normal every day people instinctively use Riemann sum approximations to figure out the area of complex garden beds so they can get an idea of how much mulch or fertilizer to buy. A full integral provides an even better estimate but isn't worth the extra effort for a small number of garden beds which is how the application of calculus in this example often goes unnoticed.
