Stephanie Mills on Dating Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Diana Ross, Oprah, 'The Wiz' (Full Interview)

Famed entertainer Stephanie Mills sat down for her first-ever VladTV interview, and she started off by speaking to Shawn Prez about getting her start in the entertainment industry. Stephanie revealed that she got her start by winning Showtime at the Apollo for 11 weeks straight and later landing a role on Broadway with “Maggie Flynn.” From there, Stephanie spoke about singing being her first love and not considering herself an actress, and she went on to detail her start with singing in church. Stephanie went on to detail getting recognized for her singing and her winning streak at the Apollo, which led to her opening for the Isley Brothers. Stephanie then spoke about getting the lead role of Dorothy in “The Wiz” on Broadway, which led to her meeting Michael Jackson and forming a friendship. Speaking more about Michael, Stephanie explained what he was like in real life, and she went on to detail their romantic relationship and remaining friends for years. From there, Stephanie spoke about the negativity Michael received in the press, and she also revealed that her ex-husband taught Michael how to do the moonwalk. Man, as a 50 yr old black man, listening to this interview with Ms. Stephanie Mills put a smile on my face. Just listening to her speak you can tell she’s an old school value black woman who’s filled with a lot of love and respect for her culture and people. When she mentioned how her and her siblings had the same mom and dad I couldn’t help but reflect on the current state of the black community as a whole and the seemingly distain and misery that black women and men tend to have against each other nowadays.
