Let Down performed by Radiohead (HD/HQ audio)

Transport, motorways and tramlines
Starting and then stopping
Taking off and landing
The emptiest of feelings
Disappointed people clinging on to bottles
And when it comes its so so disappointing

Let down and hanging around
Crushed like a bug in the ground
Let down and hanging around

Shell smashed, juices flowing
Wings twitch, legs are going
Dont get sentimental
It always ends up drivel

One day Im going to grow wings
A chemical reaction
Hysterical and useless
Hysterical and

Let down and hanging around
Crushed like a bug in the ground
Let down and hanging around

Let down again
Let down again
Let down again

You know, you know where you are with
You know where you are with
Floor collapsing
Floating, bouncing back
And one day.
I am going to grow wings
A chemical reaction
Hysterical and useless
Hysterical and

Let down and hanging around
Crushed like a bug in the ground
Let down and hanging around

The way he writes something beautiful like “one day I am gonna grow wings, a chemical reaction” and then immediately shoots himself down with “hysterical and useless” gets me. You can feel that depression, that portrayal of self doubt in those lines is so strong. One of thom and the bands greatest masterpieces

"One day I am gonna grow wings"

Those words are quite possibly the most simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming words in music history.

Am I the only one who, for years, couldn't hear this song without crying? And yet couldn't stop listening to it?

This is maybe one of the most beautiful songs ever written. The guitar delay, the brilliant drumming, and Thom Yorke's vocals, FUCK.

I honestly struggle to put into words how much I adore this song.. Its miraculously uplifting yet at the same time crushingly depressing, and the most amazing thing to ever find its way into my life. That sounds kinda pathetic, but honestly I feel like Radiohead's music has filled a huge whole in my life that other people never will, because all people ever do is make you feel "let down"... So thank you Radiohead, as incoherent as I am to you, I hope you know that what you have created has given me something that will always be there for me where people aren't, and for that, I will always be grateful :)

This song was a gripping experience for me when I first listened. It made me realize, quite bluntly, that I was powerless to many societal forces that I could not even begin to understand or comprehend. Eventually it became a beautiful acceptance that modern society with all its dazzling array of machines and technology is not a promise for a better future or some sort of golden age but rather quite the opposite. This entire album was like a friendly stranger helping me to navigate through a dark and lurid forest.

idk why people call no surprises the most emotionally powerful track on the album. the way this song builds to such a gorgeous climatic ending grips my heart and doesn’t let go every single time i listen to it

I had totally forgotten about this song and then I heard it at the end of The Bear on Hulu. Amazing song.

Really the perfect musical expression of feeling disappointed and crushed, and grieving a loss. Something about the syncopation and the falling high notes in the refrain seems to match the pattern of human crying. "Crushed like a bug in the ground..." I accidentally bought this album during a bad heartbreak, and every refrain of this song had me sobbing, every time, day after day.

This is so much more than just a song.

Probably the quintessential Radiohead song. The song reminds me of the feeling you get after you've stayed up all night to finish a really good book or beat a video game that you've been waiting for for years or something of the sort. Once you're done you realize that it's nine in the morning and you've stayed awake on sheer willpower. Then exhaustion kicks in and you're depressed that you couldn't savor the thing you've been enjoying previously for longer. Then you go and listen to Radiohead.

Love this song so much. Was super touched to hear it in The Bear. That last scene was perfect.

Never tired, my all time greatest song. How perfect? You just have to feel it, let go till the climax with Yorke's doble vocal harmony falsseto, a nuclear bomb of emotion.
