I met a Great Dane as a tiny puppy in a friend's home, played with him, he loved sitting on my lap and I bought him a toy.
Years later I went visiting and this huge dog recognised and jumped on to my lap, to my surprise hunted and brought me the very toy I gave him from his toy basket and teased me for attention by grabbing things from me and running wildly in the garden to have me chase and play with him - he saw me and this giant became a puppy!

Great Danes live for such a short period of time. How a family could be this cruel to such a gentle giant is unimaginable.

They gave him away because the kids wouldn't feed him. It doesn't look like anyone was feeding him. These people should be charged with animal abuse. People make me sick.. You can see he's a sweetheart. Poor baby.

Rocky, Scooby didn't get that way overnight. That is months and months of pure starvation! The fact that the mother just stood by and watched it happen makes her just as guilty as the kids who didn't feed him. I bet if you get his vet records, there won't BE any records. Pure neglect by all involved!!!

The mom blaming the kids for not feeding the dog is just horrendous. Why do people even have dogs if that is their attitude? I so hope this innocent and sweet dog finds a wonderful home.

My brother was 17 when I was born. When I was 8 he was babysitting me and got a fire call (he was in the volunteer fire department). Before leaving he told his Great Dane "Sassy" to watch me. I couldn't even go to the bathroom without her. She never let me out of her sight. I felt totally safe. One of my best babysitters.

We had 5 Great Danes in our family. They have very gentle temperaments. They are devoted and are happiest when they get to spend a lot of time with their human companions.

GREAT NEWS TO SHARE FROM KENTUCKY!!: After being filed back in January, HB 258 passed with a vote of passed 31 to 5 on Tuesday 3/27/24. The bill makes the torture of a dog or cat a felony in all cases, including a first offense, which could previously be a misdemeanor!

I have rescued several Great Danes. He looks like he needs about 45 pounds. I’d love to rescue him. ❤

Why is it the dog who's required to have a license when it should be the human who requires a license to have a dog like this? The only good thing his former owners did was relinquish his care to the shelter. Scooby's such a sweetie. He will find himself a lovely home. Totally irresistible!!! ❤

We have a 6 year old Great Dane. Monty weighs 58kg and is on the smaller side .They are very finicky eaters and have very sensitive tummies. So any changes in diet have to be very slow, there is also a risk of bloat if they are too active straight after feeding. The knob on the head is normal for danes, as its where their jaw muscles connect to their head (if they chose to bite someone they would do a hell of a lot of damage!) luckily they are very loving, very loyal, very attached to one person and very protective. They also think they are a laptop and stick like velcro to their person. They are so attached to their person and need to be with someone . They are not meant to be overfed as it puts extra pressure on their joints, so you should be able tp see the last rib (not all of them!) i hope this beautiful boy found his forever home. Once you are owned by a Great Dane, you never go back to another breed!

I cried about 80% of this video. We lost our beautiful German Shepherd on 12/26. My birthday was 12/24, of course Christmas on 12/25, and she held on so we wouldn't mourn her on those days. There is nothing earthly I wouldn't give to feed her one more time. My heart broke knowing people didn't care if Scooby EVER got fed. That level of starvation occurred over a long and suffering path. I wish I was emotionally ready for another dog right now, but my son and I aren't. Scooby we will find your furever home. ❤

Rocky, if it wasn't for your team and teams such as yours, I would have lost ALL faith in humanity. Seeing these poor souls in your videos is heartbreaking. Some people are just... ugh. Sending loving and healing hugs to Scooby and his huge heart. Such a good boy.
