Tonka Dump Truck Restoration 1970's Tonka Toy

in this video we take a rusty old Tonka Dump Truck and restore it back to its former glory. This truck was beyond playworn and had suffered plenty of rust due to being left outside for many years. Tonka toys were very big back in the 1970's and were every boys dream toy. I restore this tonka toy and present it to its new owner.

At 55 yrs of age, I still have 2 of my smaller Tonka trucks from as a child. My parents put them away many yrs ago and gave them to me about 20 yrs ago. I have always had them in my bookshelf. You have done a fantastic job to a fantastic toy. They wbuilt them tough during the 60's and 70's. They will outlast many of todays toys.

I grew up in the 80s and had a whole set of true metal tonka toys andn seeing that one restored really means alot to my inner child. Here in the states tonkas are all plastic now. Loved that this one was restored so another generation can enjoy them as much as I did .

I had a Tonka Beatle and a shovel Digger. The best toys I ever had. Thanks for reminding me of how good it was back then.

That was my all time favorite toy as a kid ! I got it for Chritmas ! I played with it every day as a kid and then put it up and my boys played with it. Now they are plastic and have lost the whole " Tonka " build !

I don't have one from the 70s, but I got a Tonka truck when I was a baby. I'm now 27 and I still have it to this day. It's one of my prized possessions.

You are the number one grandfather.
I have to admit, the final scene really touched me.
Super Martin, you are really a kind hearted person.

Brilliant job on that big truck. Nice to see that it will be back to its original use-giving pleasure to a child. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I'm so glad you gave the restored Tonka Dump Truck to that little boy.  My grandfather used to restore toys and collectibles and if I accidentally bumped into the finished product, he would open hand me in the face.  We were not allowed to go near them much less touch them.

That's a 1983-85 Tonka, Great job repairing it though, Long live Tonka steel trucks.

Favourite toy growing up, I was such a small kid I could actually sit in the dump part and use it like a car, the iconic sounds of the wheelers and the squeaky tipper just made the memories flood back of playing with it at the beach and at the playground in those care free childhood days

Can’t believe I’ve watched a 21 minute video including commercials. But this was awesome. Really awesome. Great choice of music in the right moments, minimal but informative captions and the speeded up frame rate was super. Almost cheered when you got he cab off. Amazing to see the work of the paint remove and the unbelievable quality of the steel underneath. Giving it to the kid at the end was touching. Subscribed.

Tonka, built tough! I also had one as a child and played with that thing sun up to sundown! I think I relocated my sandbox like five times, one dump at a time lol. Awesome job on the restoration and you couldn’t have picked a better candidate to receive it! 😉 Thanks for sharing.👍🏻

Amazing job on an amazing old school toy truck!

I took my son's metal Tonka Toys out of the building this Fall when the grand kids started staying down a lot for them to play with and enjoy.
They tell me that they are made of plastic now, what a shame it used to be parents toy of choice for boys that played outside and played rough with their toys.

Awesome use of cold gal paint. I always use gold gal on my restores so my kid can play with them for years to come. My boy now has my restored front loader in the sandpit. Same one I had 30 years ago.

To see the love put back into this Tonka Truck that all little boys know, brings tears to the eye of men watching this now and brings them right back to when they were a boy!

You did a great job and it's wonderful to see how these toys were really built to last.

Excellent. We have a truck just like that and our sons all played with it and I think it's still out in the yard. Now with your help I can restore it and pass it on to my son's son.

Not just every boy's dream. As a girl who grew up in the auto industry - Tonka Trucks - especially the biggest one was my FAVORITE.
