2002 Atlantic Hurricane Season Animation

2002 was a near-average hurricane season, featuring 12 named storms, 4 hurricanes, and 2 major hurricanes. It started slow, but quickly ramped up in pace during September with 8 named storms. Fortunately, the season ended early with no new named storms after September 22nd; however, tropical activity persisted until mid October. At the time 2002 had the most active September on record until (coincidentally) it was surpassed by the same naming list 18 years later in 2020.
