Fun bit of trivia somebody else has probably mentioned: This minisode is actually based on a scene Neil Gaiman wrote that was originally intended to be the teaser for The Doctor’s Wife. In the original script, it was Amy and Rory present instead of River and the end of the sequence would be marked by the hypercube appearing which would then take us into the episode as we know it. The scene was cut for budgetary reasons and rewritten for this “exclusive” on the S7 DVD release

wow those little details, The Doctor smelling petrichor, the few drops of water at the start and The Doctor finally figuring out what to do. It presents EXACTLY how The Doctor's minds work and this minisode did it amazingly

The series 5 shorts were like five minutes each. This was literally a minute of screentime with the two of them, a few seconds of voiceover, and that was it. BBC got lazy.
