Westerns of DeForest Kelley

Of all the Star Trek Cast Kelley has the most western movies and TV under his belt, made during the 1950s and 60s. Shatner made a couple. Unfortunately not doing well, in fact some may argue they were stinkers. The Outrage 1964 and White Comanche 1968.
Kelley was spotted by a Paramount talent scout while working on a United States Navy training film. He soon became a reliable character actor (often in Westerns in which he often played the villain), but hit the big time when he was offered the role of the somewhat irascible Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy on the television series Star Trek (1966).

As a Star Trek fan I gotta love De Kelley. From what I hear the perfect Southern Gentleman, kind and gentle, yet on screen often played a baddie.

Some of the best actors are just like that.

A good worker in cinematography entertainment. Many of them together is the basis of stars.

I admit I have not seen all of these .But his role in Warlock as a slimy Gunslinger was great. When he is outdrawn by Henry Fonda, his "Whoeee", is both menacing and funny.

In an interview in his later years he always thought he'd be remembered for his westerns, not science fiction, but he wasn't disappointed about it though.

De was also in an episode of The Dakotas as JD Smith’s cousin. They had a great fist fight.

He also had a kinda sorta semi regular role on M Squad with Lee Marvin.

DK a perfect foil for Spock on Star Trek. Never felt he had enough 'presence' to be a force in movies though....

I remember watching a western with Kelley once, and I thought it was one of the sequels of the Magnificent Seven. But I checked and he wasn’t part of any of the sequels. Now … what movie have I seen … ??? …

You missed his appearance on The Virginian as a drunken doctor. I memory serves, Leonard Nimoy was in the same episode.
