Very nice. I thought it is russian language, but then i understood too much, and hey, it turns out to be church slavonic, much closer to croatian that i speak. For a moment i thought, hey this russian language is really easy peasy. Linguistic aside, it is still very nice singing. Thank you for the upload.

Unfortunately it's quite difficult to find this and the other CDs of Valaam for purchase. Thank you for this on youtube and for the link, is it possible to find it in FLAC format?

Why is this chant not used more widely in the OCA? The well-known 19th-century polyphony has its place, but it is not good for small services with a limited choir. There is almost nothing more disturbing than hearing only the alto and tenor lines of an SATB composition, invariably just a little bit out of tune. Why do people insist on inflicting that type of torture on parishioners? The moving and spiritual and uplifting Valaam chant needs only two voices, and it can be sung with just a soloist if necessary.

I'd rather not purchase this from Ancient Frauds...anywhere else to find this?
