When you said that... "don't wish your life away" oh man... that hit me right on. I used to do that and wish to be a certain age so I can do this or that, but now I just try my best to stay happy with my age. However, recently I kept thinking once I get older I'll have more success and fun, once I'm older this and that, it was a relapse almost. Thanks for the talk, it definitely opened my eyes and I'm going to try my best to be happy where I am now.

Hi Hannah, it's Candie :)
When I was 12, I was homeless & living in an abandoned house with my gf. (I won't get into why other than to say it was to avoid eminent abuse) I was young, but she was worlds apart in age from me being only 11 maturity wise. I member thinking she needed to be protected & I was the only one who could do that so for me, I never wished I was older, I just chose to be more, I don't know if I was wishing of being any particular age, but felt I had to be the adult cause I had both of us to look after.
Every day we'd find something to do to make money; raking leaves, cutting grass, cleaning garages, shoveling snow, anything to make enough to eat & get by which believe it or not, we did well.
We never starved, did drugs, sold our bodies or anything like that & avoided others who were questionable to me cause I was looking out for us in the long run.
I grew up really fast cause I had to.

Looking back, I don't think I ever thought about my only being 12, other than I knew it wouldn't let me do certain things, but I think cause I didn't know that much about anything (life in general) I had to think of ways to get around things. Such as, taking the bus to wherever knowing that if we got on at the right time, we didn't need to show passes cause it was assumed we were students so no one ever asked, allowing us to get around most of the time for free, hehe. I thought I was quite clever really.

When I member those days, I feel in a lot of ways I missed out on my childhood, but I also member us taking opportunities to go swimming, hiking, going on the swings & anything to have some fun, after we did the work we needed to do. People were generous & I don't actually member us really suffering; it was just another day, another week & we were together so we were really happy.

Just before I turned 14, we developed a relationship with a women at a library who helped us get our education via the web & eventually I got into University & my gf got into College, despite our ages. The only difference between us and others around us, was that we are both deaf. But this never stopped us from making anything we wanted work for us. I read lips exceptionally well.
We both did awesome, achieved many goals & today, although I still feel like I am a kid inside, at 27, I am a counsellor & help young girls who have gone through certain types of abuse to get themselves back on track & independent & I don't believe I would be doing that today if it were not for the experiences I had when I was 12 & 13.

I love your positivity, something you exude as well as your happy smile & charm & bubbly goodness, you make me smile when I see your face.
Thank you for bringing a little joy into my life cause sometimes its just nice to see someone else super happy & that makes me think how blessed I am & have been.

I immediately was thinking to live up your age! It does indeed go by soooo fast. 22/23 were some of my favorite years. That's soon a decade ago ;p Then hearing what your parents mentioned to you - exactly! When I was younger I remember wanting to just be done with whatever grade school it was or even 18 for highschool to be over. When those times hit I remember those wishing moments. So silly haha woops!
