Florida teen survives lightning strike, recovering at hospital

A Florida teenager is recounting his miraculous survival after being struck by lightning during a Monday evening storm. Daniel Sharkey, 17, was doing yard work as the storm rolled through Seminole County.

My great grandfather died being hit by lightening. He’s was on the farm under a overhang. Left a wife and kids. Not a joke. Thank God this young man is ok.

Florida is the lightning strike zone of America. But a friend of mine has been struck three separate times he has had open heart surgery because of it but he is still alive

Fall 1994 my car was struck by lightning on a fairly clear day. In the spring of 1995 my house was struck by lightning setting the roof on fire. That gave me a bit of PTSD for some time after when storms approached. Thank goodness it wasn't my kids or me that got hit directly. Wishing this teen all the best in his recovery. Oh thank God that wonderful young man survived that frightening incident and is recovering fully. Lightning can strike over 100 miles away from a storm cell. Be careful out there. He was careful too, but a stray bolt came.
