extremely helpful thx.  I couldn't understand how we got the opposite signs for the point part.  Now I know its better to just remember it that way.

I still don't understand how (for example, this was on my homework, )
y + 4 = -3(x + 2)
The 4 (from the y) would later be turned into a -4 and 2 (from the x) would be turned into a -2.
So, if I were to graph it, would the coordinates would be (-2, -4) ?
Sorry if that didn't make sense, I was just wondering...

From my teacher this is outdated she said just to plus the -y1 to the end so it would look like
y=m (x-x1)+y1
