I used to listen to this song and cry because of how much I wanted to go to New York. My amazing mom finally took me last fall along with my cousins. It was different than I expected but it was incredible. Greatest city in the world! Praying for NYC during these hard times as well❤️

Old Blue Eyes nailed it on the head when he made this one. Man I tear up every time I hear this song. I have never been to a city as big as New York. I am from a very small country town. Seen nothing but pine trees most of my life. I think if I actually was there and saw the skyline of Manhattan for the first time in my life I couldn't stand it. I would be trembling and shaking all over and the tears would be rolling down my face in torrents. He did another tribute to New York with Gene Kelly and Jules Munshin in the musical ON THE TOWN in 1949.This later recording of his is the greatest tribute I have heard to this city. It really is for me the city's anthem. It makes me want to actually SEE NEW YORK before I die.
