i agree partially some coaches charge like 100 dollars for an hour thats way too much but a coach can watch your gameplay and figure out some issues incredibly quick i have watched my friend play and found some issues in his settings and playstyle that are bad but unless your playing professionally you dont really need one most the stuff ive learned is from watching pro matches/playing games myself

i got a high end gaming pc a while back, then got back into valorant with like 200+ fps on a 360 hurtz monitor, got a new mousepad and adapted to it, lowered my sensitivity to the highest any pro who uses wrist only aim does, and then started playing new roles like sentinel and controller, and now have been doing leagues better than i used to, plus my aim isnt hot trash anymore (2600 edpi just isnt playable sadly). I just thought i got older and understood games more (as the game doesnt confuse me as much as it did when i was 15), but honestly those other changes probably played a big part

Didn't expect you to call out my 60hz laptop that runs exactly 100fps

That’s why or players review their own vids alone and then review them with others to see if other can find the mistakes they made without help and to work on things alone

100% agree. I'd only watch coaching videos for anything new or basic. Actually improving my skills just comes down to playing as much as I can without it draining my soul. Not even aim trainers have done much. Simply playing the game and looking back at your mistakes is the best teaching method.

I paid 60 dollars for someone who claimed they could get me out of diamond. They apparently coached others to asc and said they were really good at giving advice. They only gave me two sessions(even though we agreed we would stop after I reach my goal) and it was literally just things I knew about, and stuff I could find in any online guide. After the second session, they disappeared, I ended up deranking from diamond to plat, while taking their advice. Don't pay for coaches, if u do, properly background check them to see if they are they say they are.

playing with friends better than you that want you to get better will boost you so high up in the game compared to any coaching lesson for any amount of time.

To improve mechanical skill just play more and to improve tactics and gamesense watch pros/radiant play ranked and try to understand their decisions. (probably better if it's not someone just w mid and shoot them down)
Edit: And after that play even more xd

some parts apply like just play the game and coaching isn't always the #1 best solution or really a good solution for 90%+ of players but many players will default to saying it's their setup and that's why they're not preforming well which could lead to being hardstuck (setups are important though like a stable wifi/ping, a decent mouse, etc but nothing too crazy until you get really good)

I have free coaching focused on controller from a radiant collegiate player and is also my ex coach on my low elo team, focused coaching is so useful when you know who you wanna main, stop paying coaches for basic shit and pay them for the advanced like the best way to play your role or agent

After hours of aimlab I realize how poor is my aiming.
It takes months to improve.
There is no magic.

I think it's just that a lot of coaches are bad and a lot of players seek a coach before having a decent amount of hours in the game. Those 2 factors combined make coaching not very effective in a lot of cases, but if you can get to plat with good mechanics and decent gamesense and then hire a coach to review your VOD and tell you things about team coordination, reading the enemy team, making plays even with teammates who don't comm, utility usage, movement and aiming technique, etc, I think it can be very beneficial to you and your gameplay. And saying you need to play the game to get good gamesense is false, watching pro vods or getting coached will increase your gamesense as long as you're making a minimum effort to learn.

Just adding some thought bubbles.

Coaches in esports make sense because the roles are more specific for each player and the coach needs to make sure the player's gel nicely and synergise their team play.

Individuals need to really think about what they like about the game and what kind of player they are. If you're casual then you'd ignore your results. If you claim your casual but expect to get a high kda, then youre lying to yourself. At that point, your natural desire to win kicks in and youre playing competitively without realising it.

There are communities that people can join for free, and can probably get the same service these coaches provide, for free.

In fairness. People can be taught positioning and cross hair placement. Just do it for free on the 'Tube though.

But what if a coaching program sponsor offered you $1M? Wouldn't you accept?

I got to plat 2 with 75hz monitor and setup that is uncomfortable. But with aim training and watching some specific videos I was able to play the game properly be good at it though I don't play it anymore. Just don't overthink it.

as a coach i agree these coaches charges 100-200 is basically a scam. but i can guarantee you with right coach its worth it, i coached 40+ players they all achieved highest ranks.
