Gayle did Not expect CBS to air that clip. Lisa Leslie wasn't on code and didn't contribute to that tripe of an interview. Gayle assumed that CBS would cut that particular segment, but she was seriously mistaken. Listen closely to Gayle King's own words when she said that she started receiving calls and Emails from friends who were asking about that clip. Puzzled and confused, she was shocked and upset by that clip.

Upset that CBS decided to air that clip anyway. She screwed up more than anyone could possibly imagine! "This shalt not pass!"
Kobe, as far as a fan base goes, is not Robert Kelly. There's a lot of powerful people who really loved that young man. Gayle thought that she could pin this on Lisa. That is why she kept coming back with the follow up questions. Gayle told the producers to cut that segment, and they probably told her, " Ok, boss!" Then aired it anyway.

Wake up moment? My opinion, yes!

Fayle King would have been better off not addressing the backlash. First of all, "taken out of context" doesn't apply here. Does she and Loni even know what that means?

The context is still the same whether or not you listen to the whole interview or the snippet about the allegations. She blamed CBS but she still brought up the topic! Did they put a gun to her head and tell her to mention it?

It had nothing to do with the Man that he had become .
She had years to ask that question to Kobe .

It was Gayle King's second question about Kobe's rape case that caused the problem. Telling Lisa the since she was Kobe's friend caused her to not see certain things with Kobe was unnecessary. That made it seem like Gayle was trying to push Lisa into saying what Gayle wanted her to say about Kobe. Lisa gave HER answer to the first question now move on.
