The guy who did the redesign for the american airline bathroom has already said that the dimension reduction is on the OUTSIDE ONLY! The inside dimensions of the bathroom remain completely unchanged. This was possible due to more efficient plumbing as stated by the designer.

if you google some of the patents the airline companies have gotten lately, it will terrify you.
as has been mentioned, standing room planes, as well as seats that interlock so you're facing somebody else, touch knee to knee the whole time
