950hp Datsun 1200 Ute vs 2JZ Swapped Odyssey, No-prep Drag Race

The Aussie antics continue on THIS vs THST! Adam’s Datsun 1200 has NO space — that’s why that big ol’ blower’s sticking out the bonnet! It’s on top of a 6 liter LS on icy methanol, and that’s on top of some Mickey Thompsons on beadlock wheels. His opponent Jay of @lowstandards5269 brought brought his family Honda Odyssey, but it’s got a 2JZ and a drifter front end inspired by the “thrifty Zed” (that’s 350Z if you don’t speak Australian). Neither of these are designed for drag, but drag they will!

I m trying to comprehend the level that little Datsun must be fettled to, with that kind of power and that short wheelbase, I would not have given good odds for three consecutive runs down the track without a barrel roll. By itself, the skill driving that thing, and building it to be stable in a race are awe inspiring.

I was NOT ready for that ending where he actually proved that Odyssey can drift! With more equal tires, this race would've been better. Those drag slicks made the race for the Datsun, I wanna see the Odyssey back for a rematch on equal tires. That thing is so sick!

the Odyssey is killer, would shine on a twisty mountain road, and an occassional L O N G straight, but not against a savage brut like that amazing WARSPEED powered monster on a drag strip! love both rides!
