Fake Ransomware, Petya & WannaCry Imitations:
Every successful ransomware attack is followed by many more pathetic imitation attempts aimed at exploiting unsuspecting users. Watch out for these wannabe threats. Don't pay the ransom! Even if you see a ransom window/message, there is a good chance that your data is unaffected.

That Fake Petya Ransomware didn't even try to look convincing.

Sometimes you can even get a browser tab which automatically becomes full screen and tells you “your computer is disabled” on behalf of Microsoft. That’s also kinda fake ransomware that demands you to call a “toll-free” number (which may turn out surprisingly expensive in your phone bill, and that’s not the only trouble you can get — especially if you follow instructions given by “tech support” and give access to your PC).

Don’t fall into panic. Move the mouse pointer up and you’ll see there’s an “X” button appearing, click it to exit the full screen mode; alternatively you can use ESC key, press and hold for a couple of seconds. Once you quit the full screen mode you’ll be able to close the fraudulent tab.

I would get the Petya or the other one that encrypts your MBR and try to make it so that if someone steals your computer and tries to enter a password etc that it would encrypt the data but I would change the message to say "You are attempting to use a computer that has been reported stolen. GPS tracking has been activated and the police have been called. You have 48 hours to return the computer to its rightful owner. Failure to do so will format the hard drive and cause a power surge to render the computer useless." During the 48 hours I would have this high pitched screeching sound come out of the speakers and have the screen rapidly flashing different patterns and colors.

Can you make another Webroot review? Your last Webroot review was 4 years ago and many new versions came out.
