Glad that you took the time to voiceover this video and talk us through what you were doing as you were doing it, much more engaging. I was getting a little disengaged with recent videos of a load of timelapses and then a talky bit to camera at the end. It felt like you were just cracking on with the build and the videos were a secondary thought which is totally understandable with a project of this scale!

Love how you are having a go at your old man and godfather for their precision on dimensions whilst also stressing about 20mm on a 2.4m ceiling height! I guess it has been passed on from father to son! Joking aside - tremendous effort! So inspiring. Love these videos! Great progress 👍👍

You might not like the steel frame and I understand the reasons why, But it has kept you dry through some pretty bad winter weather. So you have been able to motor on in a way that most self builder would give there right arms for ! Really enjoying the build, you are doing a grand job (as they say “Up North”)

Really enjoyed today’s session, Tim. Your bit about framing out windows was good timing, helping me think through my own build. And the homework question about ceiling height and related panel requirements, … well I don’t have an answer but that’s also a question I’ll be soon considering. I’ll be watching/reading your comments closely. Cheers from Japan 🇨🇦 🇯🇵

Hello Tim, I am so loving this build and your former home remodel was fabulous also. You are very organized and/or methodical. I enjoy your very interesting and non jiberish explanations. Maggie is a great dog, supervisor, and helper; very smart 👏 As always, God bless you and your family from your very long-time California subscriber 🙏 🤲

Ceiling joist height from floor either 2740 or 2440, board + 12.5 ceiling board plus 2x 12.5 packers plus wriggle room under boards to fix to studs. Personally, I’d go for 2700 board height if you can as taller ceilings just look better IMHO. I live in a Victorian property so have very high ceilings compared to modern builds.

Re ceiling height, I would figure out max & min height of top floor into the equation first. Min ceiling height in top floor room will determine the size of the room on the east /west side. Looking so good Tim, great work! 😊

The intro graphics are so cool for this video series

Regarding de ceiling height. Bigger rooms need higher ceilings due to the Horizon-effect. Something about 10 foot, 1, 25 board hight, will look amazing.

Hi Tim, I'm an Electrical/Mechanical engineer and my bothers a carpenter we had the same issue when we did the roof on my extension I would measure to the mm and he kept saying anywhere there will do, remember the expansion the house has to breathe and stretch 🤣🤣
