You can’t have Ukraine in NATO until the fighting stops. This is because NATO’s defense doctrine says an attack on one NATO member is an attack on all. So if Russia and Ukraine are still warring, and at the same time Ukraine is granted NATO membership, you will see a large escalation of the conflict.
