18 years ago, the Dave Matthews Band shit all over Chicago. August 8th marks the anniversary of the infamous Dave Matthews Band Chicago River incident where the band's tour bus dumped waste off a bridge onto a sight-seeing boat.

I mean, a vacation in Chicago is bad enough. It was in August 4, 2004 at about 1 PM. On this day, at that particular time, the temperature was 83 degrees Fahrenheit. The Dave Matthews Band had shat 800 collective pounds of liquid shit into a giant reservoir meant only to be unloaded at specialized waste facilities. I imagine it was smelling aboard that bus that day. But nothing next to what the hundred and twenty passengers aboard the Chicago’s Little Lady were about to experience. Imagine a tour in Chicago, not exactly the greatest tourist destination in these United States. Probably fairly annoyed, bad trip so far, not much going right for you and your wife. As you pass under a bridge and a warm breeze picks up, your spirits are ever so briefly lifted before a near full imperial ton of prominent Canadian jam band Dave Matthews Band’s putrefying liquid shit splashes in a torrential downpour directly on top of your head.

The Chicago’s Little Lady would go on to hold her regularly scheduled 3PM tour only an hour and a half after the end of the incident, and frankly, I wonder if their passengers noticed a difference.

1st time hearing the story. Omg - that definitely would be hard to live down, and even harder to forget. But the DMB Guys made good and shelled out a lot of money bc of this incident. Like this tape says - "remember, someone is probably having a shittier day than you. Be kind to one another." And unlike a lot of folks here, I am a fan!!
Sweet!! Some Devil, Two Step, their version of Down By The River, All Along The Watch Tower, etc. And so many from their Summer Tours concerts. The hair is going silver, the lines on their faces getting deeper, and the music is getting better. 🌿
