The fact that this kinda explains why he disapproves of a lot of more kind choices is crazy. He has a deep resentment towards people who are shown the kindness people never bothered to show him. I can fix him (I'm delusional)

God, Astarion can be such a tragic character. The trauma runs He's been so neglected in life and everything, from his image, to his humor, to his cruel nature- just a defense mechanism. This whole line just reminds me of a scared little boy and it's heartbreaking!!
