US coal production up as Trump vows to end 'war' on industry

I say when I was a child people used to use what was called solid fuel. What that means is they used to use a coal fire that heated up a water boiler that was fitted in the chimney wall. If you did not have a fire you would have to wash in freezing cold water. These existed all the way through the 60s until the late 70s. This used to create smog pea soup like a black fog and you could not see your hand. It was coal, pollution it was great fun for kids in London but it could shorten people's lives.
All the soldiers of the Second World War were becoming middle age men with children and the war made them very tolerant towards their children and we would play out in that smog all day which look like night-time. People were only just beginning to get money again because everything was being sent to Germany because of the Russian blockade they were sending all the food up until 1954 to Berlin. All able-bodied men were becoming bricklayers and being sent to Germany to rebuild the city's that lasted all the way up to the 80s everybody was a bricklayer in Germany. Those in the U.K. who did not have a home because of the war moved into caravans or canal boats or prefabs and they would use coal for everything. 40-year-old men then looked and sounded like 80-year-olds they would cough and splutter and always be out of breath. Coal is no good for you leave it in the ground.

Hell yes! The war on coal is egregiously stupid. We should MAXIMIZE our energy resources and let the free market take its course. Clean coal FTW!

Coal has been dying since the 1950's. Good work trying to revive a dying industry rather than focusing on alternate cleaner and safer energy sources.

is coal even economically competitive anymore? I know steel companies who own coal mines that they don't even use because the market price is dirt cheap.

coal industry is dying. there's only a finite amount of coal in the ground. once all the coal has been mined in the near future, then the industry will be gone forever.

Trump should eliminate the "modern" HVAC in the whitehouse, and replace it with coal stoves in every room. Since he doesn't believe that coal is an environmental threat, recirculate the exhaust through his oblate spheroid office. Not to mention eliminating air conditioning.
