Honestly, my work has 3 stop signs and a physical barrier, and people still drive through. I have been told more then once "because its confusing" its a stop sign ma'am!

I'm from Sydney. They had to put these in because dumb truck drivers with over-height loads kept driving into these tunnels despite all the height warning signs on the approaches, not only getting the truck stuck but also destroying millions of dollars of lighting, ventilation and fire-suppression equipment & infrastructure on the roof of the tunnels in the process. Once the trucks are removed the tunnels then sometimes also have to remain closed for hours/days or even weeks on end while all this damage is repaired. They now have detection cameras and sensors installed on the approach lanes to these tunnels that automatically trigger these stop signs well before the over-height trucks can arrive at the entrance; still doesn't stop some idiots continuing to drive on through regardless through.

I am from Sydney, these signs are to remind you to STOP, and check if you have the $60+ in road tolls it will cost you to drive home after a hard days work. 😂
