BLUE DIAMOND'S RESPONSIBILITY - How Pink Diamond's Shattering Changed Her | Steven Universe Analysis

Blue Diamond took Pink Diamond's "shattering" much worse than Yellow Diamond did. Yellow Diamond is upset over what happened too of course, but not to the same degree that Blue is. That's because Blue Diamond feels directly responsible for Pink Diamond's shattering. Blue was the one who watched over Pink while she had her Earth colony. Blue posted herself on the planet with some of her blue gems, including Sapphire and Lapis Lazuli. Pink Diamond was in charge of Earth... but Blue Diamond was in charge of her. Pink had to come to her with any concerns she had. Pink Diamond kept trying to tell Blue Diamond to take the gems and abandon the Earth colony. Blue dismissed her. Pink took drastic measures to stop the colony by faking her own shattering with her Pearl's help and turning into Rose Quartz permanently. Blue changed after this. She feels responsible for Pink's shattering, because if she had just listened to Pink's pleas Pink wouldn't have gotten "shattered" by "Rose" on Earth.

They say everyone deals with grief differently and I can see it with the Diamonds.

Blue is sad and, as you said, feels somewhat responsible for what happened to Pink. While Yellow (seemingly) hides her own grief behind sternness and hostility

It seems like Blue and Yellow were Parents and Pink was their daughter. Like when Pink was throwing a tantrum about not having a Colony, Yellow acted like the more stern parent and said No but Blue seems like she'd be the Parent that spoils their child at least thats how I interpret it

Blue Dimond and yellow Dimond are two opposite extremes. I believe this will shape the course of what's to come. Even though she had selfish motivations, pink diamond's Rebellion was necessary. The question I'd like to put forth is if someone does something good even if it is for a selfish reason does that make it good or bad. I know that might be a simplistic way of looking at it but it gets my point across.

Yeah, I'm thinking so too. The Moon's flashback shows the dynamic between the three Diamonds. Look, Pink standing like a scolded child, Blue leaning toward her and Yellow standing with her back straight and toward Pink. I believe, and will until proven otherwise, that it was that Moon conversation that cracked poor Blue, I mean, it was the moment when she basically told her little sister that no harm can fall upon her from Rose Quartz and wham, shortly after Pink was "shattered". Considering Gem's great memory capabilities... I bet she's often playing it in her head.

1:25 Okay I just want to say something about this. This is Blue Diamond before the “shattering” of Pink Diamond. She looked different, and resembles her mural depiction here. One of the major differences between her mural depiction and her current appearance is her hair. However, in this shot you can see that her hair isn’t white and connected near her neck area. It would look more like her mural here. I think that while grieving over the death of PD, her appearance changed. Grief took its toll on BD, and she hasn’t been the same. This all makes sense, but what doesn’t is her gem shape. In this shot her gem shape looks different than it does now. That might just be a continuity error (and if it is it really bugs me), but maybe she changed it for some reason after the loss of Pink? I’m really not sure, but I hope it gets explained.

Edit: I was thinking about this, and maybe Garnet just got the gem shape/cut of Blue Diamond wrong in this flashback? She isn’t exactly a reliable source, and she hasn’t seen Blue Diamond in a long time. It could just be that Garnet got a little mixed up or something.

I have a theory about pink diamond / roses plan to cure corruption. It's not fully formed but I'm still working on it. I believe Steven being hybrid of both gem and human is the key. I also believe the answer as to how this will come about is hidden within the locked chest. That's as far as I've gotten on the theory so far.

So I have a few things I just wanna dump here, I'm sorry

•No one was responsible for shattering pink diamond, greg is the real suspect here😂
•Pink was living two different lives, she changed her appearance and her name to be free from everything
•I was confused about how pink was able to switch from pink to being rose the rebel and still be able to take care of her colony and make it believable that Rose Quartz was a different gem but then I thought that pearl probably shape shifted to look like rose and play the role as the rebel gem?
•Steven is technically pink diamond because he has her gem but I think he's his own person and the diamonds need to understand that
