We already had these ''views'' in reach tab. Now the reach tab is useless. This change makes it so much harder to understand how the short is doing, it's much harder to understand the analytics now. Change it back please! Or give creators option to switch back to old interface.

I genuinely despise this new update, it’s just messed everything up drastically, why couldn’t engaged views just be a separate stat, I used to monitor my 48 hour live feed and get an idea what’s trending but now it’s all over the show

Anyone else notice a drop in shorts views?

This update is really bad and confusing.

YouTube...please include shorts watch time as part of the eligibility for the YPP. Right now, if a short doesn't have 10 Million public views, then only long form content is considered as eligibility. Our channel features the majority of its content as shorts (because that's what our YouTube viewers told us THEY want), has more than 1 Million subscribers and more than 16, 000 hours of watch time. We are still NOT in YPP. Love YouTube. PLEASE make this change:-) Best wishes to everyone here.

When did an impression become a view? It makes everything more confusing. It makes my analytic look worse. It makes it look like my channel is performing worse and it’s definitely not going to help when presenting my channel to potential advertisers.

This is an awful change. I want the normal views back. I thought my recent short did much better than normal because of this

I prefer the previous method, where view count = engaged views. With the old view count system, I could easily get an idea of my Shorts' performance. To see how often my video was shared, I could check "Video shown in feed, " but I rarely do that. Instead, I usually just look at the percentage of "Stayed to watch vs. Swiped away."

With the new method, a high view count does not necessarily reflect good Shorts performance. I hope YouTube will revert to the previous counting method.

bring back the old counting system. if the views don't count we don't want to see. it is artificial. we care engaged views only.

Hey YouTube, is this how you cut creators' revenue? Why are engaged views and stay-to-watch not in sync? Is there now a difference between engaged views and stay-to-watch? Because all my videos show stay-to-watch over 75%, but engaged views are only 30% of the total views.

I don’t care about your new definition of views because it’s meaningless. Revenue isn’t calculated from views. What’s your goal? To mislead third parties into collaborating with creators because the 'views' look high? That’s dishonest business practice. Is YouTube now encouraging creators to do that?

Please bring back the old system. I don’t like this new update. It doesn’t sit well with most creators at all.

So now it will be a bunch of fake views instead of actual views. Sad.

they’re displaying higher viewcount to make ppl feel better about lower reach as shorts become more saturated.. it falls in line with changes Meta made last year so now views will be calculated the same as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok.

When I saw my analytics this week I was like "awesome! I am having a great week!" -Nope, they are just counting shorts differently.

Old Views count system was great for small Youtubers like me. Its getting harder and harder day by day 😢😢

For those of us who have been uploading for over a decade, it is increasingly apparent that YT is pushing "updates" with no regard to creator input. The overwhelming push for "earning more revenue" without adding, or fixing features YT broke makes it all but impossible to rely on YT as a stable platform for long term growth. At this point it is easier to start a new channel than it is to try and maintain one stuck in "algorithm limbo" where subscribers are un aware you are uploading videos.

I cannot be monitized because I had no clue what defined a valid view. What I have found is 3 different answers. 1- it has to be at least 10 seconds long, 2- it needs to be 15 seconds long, 3- it needs to be 60 seconds long. Which is it?

This change has actually made it more difficult. My view count was fine. I don't know my actual Realtime now and its beyond confusing.

Ok but whats up with those channels that are just downloading popular videos of the Internet ?! Youtube should have more strickt policy on this because it hurts all the solid creators that are actually making the content and not just downloading from Tic Toc or other platform....youtube rewarded this behaviour waay to much vs normal creators and its really not fair specially for people who are working on your platform 10+ years....
