Polar Bears, Beluga Whales and Northern Lights in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada

In August 2021 we traveled to Churchill, Manitoba (Canada) in search of the Churchill Trifecta: Bears, Belugas, and (Aurora) Borealis. While peak polar bear season doesn't happen until October/November, summer is a less-busy travel season that is stunningly beautiful and less crowded, and is the only time of year when it's possible to see all 3 attractions. In addition to its natural wonders, Churchill is also home to some amazing Cold War-era military facilities and an outdoor art installation called Seawalls Churchill that celebrates life in the North. The local population includes Indigenous peoples who have lived in the area for generations and a visionary team of guides who are working to put Churchill on the map as a premiere tourism destination.

You can find more details about our trip and the tours we booked at:

Note that when we traveled in August 2021, Manitoba was open to vaccinated visitors, and there was no mask mandate in place. Circumstances are constantly changing and this may no longer be the case.

I visited Churchill November 2016 so had snow .I actually toured with Frontiers North and stayed on the buggies on the Tundra.Saw so many bears up close and personal and was lucky enough to witness the northern lights twice .Can recommend Frontiers North for your visit to see the polar bear
