Is this budget tent really a four season tent? I don't think it is so lets see what it can or cannot do

Set mine up right before severe storms and 50mph wind gusts for 4 hours came through in central wisconsin. Did not rip or leak a drop. today the wind is still blowing at 25mph and the tent is holding up just fine. All i did was [properly stake it out and use a ground sheet. Very happy.

Love it. Especially when you go "Now you'll see me clip this in." (AH NO YOU WON'T.)

Glad I found this. You just saved me a struggle...

I think it was great that you test this tent in real weather to see how it perform under stress. That is the problem with reviews is that it's not done in real weather like you did or I would do if reviewing a product. Thank you for braving the elements to do this review.

The one thing I did notice though, was the amount of inner moisture and how it doesnt have enough ventilation.

This was a real rollercoaster ride for me. At first I thought you failed to pitch the tent properly. I so wanted this to be my next tent. Finally I came around and respect your review. Thanks for saving me from a regrettable purchase. I do have a Nortent Gamme 4 that I believe is a valid 4 season tent, but it is 5 times the price of the Geertop. Thank your for your insight, sir.

Great video mate! This is what I am looking for when trying to find product reviews but so seldom find. I was really close to sealing the deal on one of these tents.

Hilarious closing! I own one of these. Perfect for the kiddies camping in my backyard!

Matt. There is a clasp at the top of the inner tent. It clasps the poles at the top. To keep them from folding the tent up. Did you fasten this clasp to the 2 poles? I have this tent used it in 60 mp end all night without a hitch. It was hard to sleep with all the noise. Never once collapsed like yours. I’m taking to colorado this weekend for a 3 week elk hunt at 20 degrees F. Not worried it’s an excellent tent so far. I’ll get back after my trip. Hope this helps. My zippers never failed. Outer flaps have Velcro for that reason.

Seriously brilliant video.
Commend you for your thorough testing in some tough weather, and knowing these situations in your location are in the normal much of the time.
As they say with ideal times theres also some tough times.

Cheers

Hey Matt, good to see you again. Yes I did buy this tent. I paid I think around £95, it became the most expensive wheelie bin I have ever put out. As you know I live on the coast in Wales, and it's always "breezy" sometimes a little fresh even. I took it out on my normal walk route, which is clifftop and pitched it. Truthfully I pitched half of it, The wind was well, windy, and the inner tent went up ok, if I did it right to secure the fly to. But as I was trying to attach the fly I couldn't work out the right attachments to the inner, it all seemed too flimsy and I took ages to get it done. Short ending, it was a waste of time like yours it blew down, it collapsed on me. I am lucky it was a shortish tab home. Got my money back as I made sure I paid via mastercard. Still using my 3 year old MSR which is inner pitch first but only takes 1 minute to put fly over. I dont upload videos buddy as you know. I have nothing new to add to youtube, but one day, maybe we can collaborate on a good one. Until then, Thanks buddy for your time and knowledge, ATB Dave

There is a plastic clip that holds the two poles in place at the top of the tent. This clip is integral to the structural integrity to the tent. This clip was not used in the video, and as a consequence the tent buckled in the wind. One would assume that in order to test a tent's true effectiveness, it would be properly erected in the first instance.

Excellent review, mate. Loved the test and the post mortem at the end. I'm disappointed that the tent performed so poorly but as you said 4 season tents don't seem to exist in the budget range. I hear good things about the Geertop ultralight 20d one person tent so I was checking out what else they make. I'll definitely steer clear of this one! Cheers

One of the best tent reviews I've ever watched 😄👌

Appreciate this video.

I'm looking for the best gear, especially a tent, for the lolly i got as the way the things are shaping up am probably gonna be homeless in the near future & i'd clocked the Geertop 4 season & was leary about its claims due to its price...watched 4 other review vids on this tent & each one was singing its praises though with no real life footage.

So nice one fella for taking your time/effort to make the vid. Thanks.

i'm nearly going to buy the navigator style one unused on ebay for £85, but reports say it's very hot. I'm planning motorcycling camping in the french alps soon, i've always made do with an old vango but really the weather is so changeable last few times i got caught in the rainshowers from hell. i want a 2 man dome alloy poles and a large porch area, ventilated but strong and waterproof, BUT i really didn't want to spend £400, anything within lower budget range? it's the large porch i'm having trouble finding

I brought this tent for £85.00 bout 2 months before this dreadful virus, so I've yet to use it but I guess I'd be better off with the DD tarp 4X3.5 which can be made into a tent. Thanks for the honest review in seriously harsh conditions. Keep up the good work brother

Lol your pissy tissue point reminded me of an ill fated climbing trip my mate and I went on back in the 80s (Langdale I think). I was belaying whilst he was climbing and wind out of nowhere suddenly hit (sounded like a freight train). As there was nothing to hide behind he abseiled straight down. Once he landed and turned to look at me, there slap bang in the middle of the forehead of his helmet was a used sanitary pad, stuck fast with the adhesive backing. I'll admit to almost puking my butties up, and howling with laughter at the same time. He thought I'd lost my mind because I couldn't get enough words out to tell him. Eventually after enough gesticulating he took his helmet off and saw the offending article. I'd rather not type what he yelled, but I later found out he sold that helmet to hippy Pete down at the Nip and Tipple pub. Anyway thought the tent was crap too, but you deserved a medal for managing to film it?

Nice to have such a detailed review. The reviewer's bias towards this budget 4 season tent was obviated when he added the two 'strategic' guys and then posed the 'failure' of the tie backs as a question about their intended use. Surely the issue with the fly strap clip slip is easily resolved.
