I love the new update. Only thing I dislike was that we didnt get any new base building parts and the ability to store a small amount of items in base decorations like the footlockers, storage containers, and lockers. Other than that...its ok.

They’re addressing a lot of the issues pretty well. Only two major issues will remain for me.

1. Inventory scrolling is garbage. I’m not a fan of the icon changes but I can live with them. But the scrolling is a MAJOR step back in UI usability.

2. By changing the values of things like activated indium and chlorine in stupid and irrational ways, and also nerfing the crap out of the mining returns, they have affectively killed all motivation for players to build mining operations of any size. I doubt that was their intention, considering they spent a lot of time putting all of the mining parts into the game.

I filed a feedback report with Hello Games for both of these, and I encourage everyone to do the same if you have issues you think need to be fixed. Let them know in a productive way, and if enough of us complain we may get more needed fixes. 👍🏻

I honestly love the new update, having a multitool that can do everything is awesome, the lost tech and messed up inventory at the beginning was a tough pill to swallow but as I played the game I liked it more and more. Having all my tech in tech was so relieving, like I think it bothered my OCD having stuff that shouldn't be there, there lol. I just started playing about 2 months ago, so didn't get to attached to the old way, but what I'll say is hello games made this game survive release... Like they MADE this game survive, they know how to handle adversity they will fix things to make everyone happy, that's what the game is about and they know that. Also my ps4 keeps crashing every like 30 minutes trying to run this game... I may have to save for a ps5... *Sighs in pain*

There's one big factor people didn't consider with the easy mode settings. Parents and their kids. A few months back, there was this thread on Steam with a guy asking a bunch of questions because he wanted to play NMS with his 5 year old.

This game is still and will be just amazing to me. No matter what changes are coming, i doubt that these will keep me away from playing this game. Although i have to admit, that i am still very curious and not happy about the difficulty settings and i think that the whole multiplayer experience will suffer from this. There are players out there, who enjoy gifting stuff to other players in the anomaly, which now has no value anymore, when everyone can have anything by just changing the settings. It just does not feel right to play in the same universe as players who can just switch to god mode. That totally destroys any balance and it's just not fair to players who play in survival or permadeath knowing that everyone else in this universe you come across has the same conditions he needs to deal with. Also this rules out any possible multiplayer competition option, whether it's PVP, a race you play with friends or just exploring together. Nobody has to really work for any achievement anymore. Now you can argue that you simply don't need to use god mode and don't care about what other players do, but the simple fact, that you know that you can and you are in the same universe with gods can become very boring.

I'm very much happy with this update. The fact that basic danger has been addressed is something I have been wanting for ages!!! Though it's a little different to what I had in mind, the way they addressed the danger in this is a very refreshing change. My other half plays the game for Fauna and planet hunting. She likes pretty things, so often I'll clear out troublesome Sentinels from a planet or two. This update has definitely made those grinds much less monotonous! It did take me off guard with my tech slots all changed and missing and such, but after a day, I was able to put myself in kind of a happier position. I personally like the fact that I'm not splitting my tech in two different tabs anymore. A personal choice but I wasn't a fan of that so the simplified layout was also welcoming from my aspect (please don't poke me too hard with your pitchforks 😂)

what i dislike, is the fact that everyon can change the difficulty option on the fly in Permadeath or survival mode. In Standard it is okay, since there are little to no consequenzes for failing. But playing in Permadeath it becomes a serious problem, if you want to join a party. They usual play on supereasy to achive the goals and get the rewards for no risk - which is the opposite for what survival/permadeath should stand for. So while i try to play on hard, others swap to easy doing everthing in a rush and all i can contribute is hiding behind a rock, because it would be way to dangerous. That is simply no fun. It feels like i am watching some legit cheaters.

The free option to swap anytime has to go. It has no place in survival/perma.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I firmly believe the supercharged slots were always part of the plan. They did what they often do, they implemented the massive inventory and settings changes first, got some numbers, made sure all that was working right, THEN added the thing that skews those numbers in largely unpredictable ways. People over reacted to the inventory change at the time imo. Yeah, it kinda sucked going from 6 upgrades to 3, I'm still sorting this out on a few characters. But fact is, we were painfully over powered beforehand and if you really want the game to be THAT easy, that's what difficulty settings are for.

To be fair, when it comes to making changes to save files in any way, shape, or form, I prefer that they wait until they're 200% sure they won't get corrupted.

The easy solution for "Easy mode" players is to lock the free stuff the same way permadeath is locked. Once you've set it, you can't un-set it, and it put's you into creative servers away from normal/survival players.

I'm pretty sure the 3 additional upgrades in the general inventory was a bug that just never got addressed, not an intended feature. The fact that I didn't even know you could do it after 1000 hours of play means it wasn't super relevant to gameplay.
