I love IKEA--I live in Houston, which has a huge store. My last three homes have been full of IKEA and I just moved into a new (to me) condo and I'm still working on the plan, utilizing some of the IKEA Kallax items I already own. Madeline alludes to what to do to keep your spaces from looking like "vignettes" in the store. Many of IKEA's items are customizable, hackable, and adaptable, and what you can do--what I do--is use IKEA as the foundation and then personalize your spaces with items from elsewhere, along with your personal items and belongings. For example, my new place will have my Kallax units and possibly some new Besta and I may keep my Malm bedframe but everything else--rugs, chairs, curtains, accessories, lamps, etc--will be from elsewhere (Wayfair, Target, vintage stores, etc) along with my personal stuff (books, art, photos, my map of London, accessories). I am a minimalist and on a serious budget and IKEA is GREAT for creating a comfortable, stylish place without spending a lot of money.

That’s so nice. I’m so glad it works for you. I think you have a beautiful home. I would have a suggest you look a little bit more into toxic off gassing that happens from a lot of Ikea carpets and couches. For those soft things I would suggest going with 100% natural nontoxic products for optimum health

Really cute and cozy home. Great choices. I also want to add the wood layer above the besta but I cannot find such length (in ikea shop I didn't find the size I need), how did you do? Are there two wood pieces or only one? Thanks in advance ❤️
