Actually they do PLAY. Meaning you should check out the song "PLAY" live of course.

Ok...Band Maid SHARE the spotlight....no ego holds the band their abilities....Band Maid are the ONLY Band I'm aware of that can take the stage as a 1 piece, a 2 piece, a 3 piece, a 4 piece and a 5 piece band and the music doesn't suffer at humble

Another great reaction. Instrumentals...they use them to give their lead singer, Saiki, a break. The instrumental, or two, along with a song, or two, from Miku (Second lead, backing vocals, rhythm guitar) in the lead, followed by Omajinai Time (Magic Spell Time, I know this must sound weird, but it is truly entertaining), lead by Miku, give Saiki a good long break. Saiki has had vocal issues in the past and has had an operation to address it. That with vocal training, her voice is stronger than it's ever been. No US tour announce yet for this year, but if you want to go to Japan, they have what they are calling their "Hall" tour. June 28th, in Aichi. July 5th, in Osaka. July 14th in Kanagawa. They are also playing in 3 festivals in Japan. July 21, "Osaka Gigantic Music Festival". Aug 16, "Rising Sun Rock Festival". Aug 17, "Summer Sonic". They are also working on their new album release which is due out at the end of this summer. PO!🕊

As for songs, to see other dimensions of the Maids:
"Daydreaming" OMV is a fantastic rock ballad, and always in my top 2, usually #1.
"Blooming" OMV, the other in my top two, is a masterpiece of a composition.
"Domination" Official Live was often used to introduce new people to the band. Gives you a little bit of everything.
"Freedom" Official Live features Akane (the Gorilla) on drums
"Manners" and "Black Hole" Official Live. Gives you two different feels for the band again, with Manners being a bluesy/groovy song and BH is just a experience of controlled chaos of speed.
"Rinne" OMV if you want something a bit harder.
"Bestie" OMV is their latest release. Collaboration with Mike Einziger from Incubus. Mike Co-wrote the song with the Maids and Miku did the lyrics. A ballad with a different sound to expand the Maid diversity in their portfolio. The Maids opened for Incubus in Japan on 5/1/24. They did the first live performance of this song with Mike joining them for the song.

When I saw them in Silver Spring, MD this song was immediately followed by From Now On.
My jaw was on the floor.

I would absolutely reccomend Morratorium. An amazing. And if you find an official live version. That is the best way to go😁👍
But songs like Dice, Manners, Blackhole, Rinne or Freedom is also fantastic showcases of this band.
In most cases i would go for the live versions. They are always amazing live.
Great reaction by the way 😀👍

Band-Maid's lead singer, Saiki, had surgery for throat polyps a few years ago. Since then, the band has been very protective of her voice. As part of that, each serving (as they call their concerts) has a section halfway through where Saiki leaves the stage to rest. Meanwhile, the rest of the band does a few songs where Miku sings lead, some instrumentals, and Miku does her Magic Spell Time bit (improv comedy in the middle of a rock concert- must be seen to be believed).

I know you will receive many, many recommendations but, if I may, how about checking out the more heartfelt side of these gals? BAND-MAID has written/performed more than one song devoted to their fans. ABOUT US (online live video) was written during the pandemic. MEMORABLE (music video) was written during their 2022 US tour as a tribute to those who attended their tour. Finally, ENDLESS STORY (live performance 2023), their closing song for the Yokohama 10th anniversary concert was a thank you to the fans' support throughout the years. Thank you so much for reacting to BAND-MAID.

You haven't seen the drummer shine yet, doing a solo. The next natural choice is their live version of "Freedom". Akane, the drummer, is in her absolute happiest mood there. Her happy face during the solo rubs off on you and it ends with you smiling as big as she does. The effect on me is the same every time I watch that video.

They have 4 officially released instrumental only tracks (Don't Be Long, From Now On, Without Holding Back, and Onset), but they also have several songs that on the officially released track have vocals, but they also provided instrumental recordings on a special or bonus CD or DVD.

They also have many acoustic versions of their songs released. For something different, try Sayonakidori acoustic official video.

There is also a cover band out there called "Band Maiko" that are pretty good as well. They have a couple of videos out.

Thanks for the reaction and comments. They're arguably the best live rock band on the planet. Enough said. Check out Manners(MV) for a change of pace and style. If you're wondering if there is anything these ladies can't do...the answer is a Yes. They can't be mediocre. Cheers!

I suggest these BM songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, Bubble, No God (live) & Puzzle (live)
I'd also suggest The Warning - another all female rock band from Mexico
I suggest these TW songs: Money, Sick, Automatic Sun, Enter Sandman (official video with Alessia Cara), Evolve (live VMAs) & Dust To Dust (live Teatro)
I'm going to Japan (from oHIo) to see both of them play together in Tokyo (& visit for 9 days) next week! *can't wait*

You should do Daydreaming for something completely different.

Now check out some acoustic stuff. Try the acoustic video for "Catharsis" then listen to the album version to hear how they adapted it.

Onset was their first instrumental.
It isn’t even on an album, it was just for live shows.
