Now when I was a lad ( That Wasn't Bloody Yesterday... ) I did like this one, never could finish the dam thing.. It was up there with Chukky Egg 2 and, Cauldron 2 as one of the best flip screen platformer's on the Speccy

Looks great! I don't think I played this back in the day.. I loved two things though, the death screen (guy shooting you is a really fun animation) with the count of rooms visited is a great touch, that and the sea-shanty that plays when you drown (so good)!

I also think it's the fairest game I've ever seen on the spectrum! I'll list the ways its super fair:

1) when you run into a baddie, it damages you once then despawns,
2) you don't continiously loose energy,
3) Pickups which increase lives, renew energy and give invuerability,
4) Every room looks interesting in of itself (like the toilet).

I think I'd struggle to play it today, but had I had it in the day, I am sure I'd have finished it :D.

Very cool. I loved Miner 2049er back in the day. I didn't realize until after the fact that there were so many clones or similar type games. 🙂

I think it looks amazing, and absolutely love the sprite design. So much character! I'm quite starstruck by Rod Bowkett, I had a look at his credits as a musician and found out he'd written for Quincy Jones and Diana Ross and played with Captain Sensible. What an odd career turn! 😄

I agree that Manic Miner is actually much more fun than JSW!! Each stage is a distinct puzzle, rather than just wandering in different directions and getting lost / killed.

One of the great things with Manic Miner was the ability to put the code in to allow you to jump to any stage.

I still have my og copy of this, lovely sprite work.

I much prefered some of the Monty Mole or Wally games for exploratory playformers.

Miner Willy should have been bigger than Mario!

I've never played this game and always forget which one it is, then I see it and remember that I still don't want to play it. Nice, big, fast moving graphics for its time tho!

This is a game i'd much prefer to play with infinite lives. I'd just need to avoid the water. That would be enough difficulty for me!

I'm not a big fan of platformers or games with a punishing difficulty level due to also having no patience or frustration tolerance. Games like this tend to get binned off by me very quickly. I want to like them but alas I don't.

I played this a few times back in the day. If I remember correctly the credit card gives you a random number of points between zero and a couple of hundred.
