I've had my ZT 0200 for 12 years. Awesome knife. Built like a tank. Great knife.

I like the reviews of old knives. It’s kind a like looking at an old classic car. Some of them are absolutely amazing and it’s a wish I could have kind of thing. Plus showing them against newer knives outlines how things have changed over the years.

I have a ZT200. I liked the overbuilt days of KAI, this and the ZT300 were my first ZT purchases. I agree, its a big chunky knife but oh so cool when you pull it out for a small task. Your criticisms are valid. I agree on the following: The grip: It really locks your hand in place and there is little room to move. The flipper digs into my hand. The recurve: hard to sharpen. The pivot nut: its a PITA. All my knives can be fixed w/ a small tool. The ZT needs me to root through my tool box....also not friendly to fix when out of the house. One thing you did not notice, when the blade is closed, your finger can fit in between the scales and catch on the tip of the blade. I am sure someone out there has done this by accident. This did not stay in the pocket long but looks cool in my collection. It is one of those knives you keep and pass onto another generation or keep because it will be rise in value. All that being said, I still love it and really enjoy the chunky big boi aesthetics. if I had to choose a pack of kraft singles or the ZT200 to all the way!!

This was my first quality knife and remains one of my favorite to this day. I remember first opening and it feeling like I had a revelation. Thanks for checking this knife out and sharing your thoughts on it!

Must be like carrying around a tiny crocodile that's like, super jacked.

I have a non serrated dlc version. The coating is applied beautifully. The G10 scales are contoured with a palm swell that feels excellent. It is a heavy knife and does get carried less than I used to but for it's size it actually carries pretty well tip up. The clip is tight and will eat pockets but the alternative of loosening it up is this bad boy sliding out of your pocket. I tapped out the thumb stud on mine and put a black zip tie there and I can Emerson wave it out too if I so desire. Don't think I'll ever sell mine.

I’ve got two of them, one that I have carried for years. The other one is still in the box. I bought them back in 2010 maybe 2011, I remember reading that they were the special operators knife of the year, I believe in 2012 and they had a nickname for the knife, I remember they called it Black death. It is an amazing knife, the reason for the shape is for a positive grip during combat fighting.

Like I say to people zt needs to bring back the old design back built like a tank not built for space type of knives

Love my old 0200! I actually carry a beater 350 for work, and a 550 for when I dress a little nicer. The 0200 has seen hunting duty, rendering many a wild hog, and hiking in the desert for whatever I need a knife for. The old ZT’s were a different class of knife that lean towards overkill. Just my style! lol…

My 0200 was my first ZT and it will never be sold. I carried this knife daily for years until I got the 0562. I love the texturing and it fits my hand perfect. I don't agree with the pivot nut would be better with a T20 instead of the hex nut. I would always have the ability to adjust it using a combination wrench, a crescent wrench or a pair of pliers VS having a T20 driver. I don't whine about size, and I serious don't understand the complaints. I guess if your a suit dude this might be a little big and weigh down your dress slacks. Saying that it will be flying around in your pocket is not something I've had an issue with out of any of my knives.
The trend in knives being lighter and thinner isn't something I follow. I remember when the firearm market went smaller and lighter. It's insane to carry a 357 snub nose with anything but a solid Stainless Steel frame but millions of Airweights have been sold. These people seldom shoot the gun but they feel manly for having a 357, lol!!!! Recoil was brutal, accuracy went South, No Thank You!!!!
I wish DNT3 made his copper scales for this knife. It's the only thing that I feel could make this knife better. I have his scale and back spacer on my 0562 and it gets the most carry time these days. Yes, it adds to the weight, so what? Just like firearms, they aren't carried for comfort, they are carried to be comforting. It's an old statement but a true statement. If I could find another 0200 for a low price I would buy another.
The above is my opinion, so don't get your little pink panties all wadded up over anything I said. Mr. Metal Complex, keep up the great work. I may not agree with everything you say, but I respect your opinion and I love all your knife reviews. Plus you're a Hinderer Fan Boy just like me. Later

What a great, new comparison term... “It’s like carrying a pack of Kraft singles”! I’m looking at you, Medford.

My favorite knives are hard use knives in reasonable sizes. I'm hyped to get a mini adamas. ZT would be smart to go back to hard use designs but in reasonable sizes and maybe make a button lock or axis style lock their standard. It seems like people are getting disinterested in the brand.

I guess everyone should own an "angry alligator" style knife at least once. My AA knife is a Carter Prime.

I'm kind of new to the knife world but that pivot nut what the heck?

It a fighting knife it was built for the special forces that was one of their knives back when it came out, they Voted it the military knife of the year, I think in 2012. That’s why it’s such a heavy built knife. It wasn’t built for you. It was built for the military.

CPM 154 is much, MUCH tougher than ingot cast 154CM, the jump is similar to CPMing the D2.
