The Best Brush for Digital Painting (Beginners)

Ever struggle to figure out what brush you should use?

Here's a quick introduction on digital brushes and my thoughts on the fastest way to get good at digital painting. There is really only one type of brush you need to become a great digital painter. This is for people just starting out, so I know most of my crowd might not be into this, but please bare with me. Plenty of more advanced content coming soon.

He is pretty much blending and smoothing out edges with one brush. In my case the only thing my brush does is make everything look muddy and messy.

1. Prioritize Hard edge brushes over soft edged ones
2. Focus on large blocks of values and colors rather than lines
3. Do not use small brushes too often
4. Get comfortable seeing the world in shapes rather than lines
