Hello! I love your videos! I was just wondering what to do about a dog who pulls to sniff. How should I go about teaching that I don't want him doing that? Thank you!!!

Hi Training positive, thanks for the very powerful tips. May I just ask, will this lead to that walk where the dog walks head up looking tall and proud?

I had a German shepherd from 6 weeks old. She was closer to me than a person could be. I talked to her like she was a person. Lots of training. Building a bond with a smart dog is the most important part of training. I never had to train her to check on me. When we walked, I let her lead in front of me and she felt for me with her tail and tension of the leash. If the leash was loose and she couldn’t feel me with her tail she would look back for me. Same when she played in the yard. She constantly looked for me. She needed to know where I was at all times. I didn’t teach her to do that.

Can you make a video on harness Vs collar and which is better to use

These sound like amazing ideas. I'm guessing game 4 would be used to build towards them not stopping to sniff constantly?

I've tried doing something similar where I hold my hand out for touch to have permission to sniff and it's worked really well. However, the only downside I've experienced so far is if he wants to explore further than the leash will go and he starts pulling. What would you recommend to do in this situation when the pulling starts after giving him permission to sniff? (Love the videos btw, keep it up!)

Great videos so helpful. My question is what kind of treats do you? I was working with my puppy, giving her treats and she end up with diarrhea. When I use basic dog food she’s not interested.

I have a lab also, when training a dog to do this how do you get them off a sniff initially? My dog digs his heels in and won’t come. Not even for a treat. He does check in when on heel, just not when sniffing.

What do you do if the dog doesn't want treats at all?

would you recommend the martingale collar for training?

I tried default check-ins with my dog and she pulls during the sniff period. What should I do then? I don't want to reinforce pulling.
